Together, we achieved a major victory for American consumers, farmers and the food producing community when President Obama signed uniform, national food labeling legislation into law on July 29. It was a historic, bipartisan achievement that would not have been successful without you.
As you know, our work is not done. While the overall framework of the law is set, many of the particulars that will go a long way in determining how it impacts consumers, farmers and food manufacturers are yet to be decided by USDA. That will happen during the rulemaking process that will involve a public comment period where your voices will be key. That process is just beginning.
